"Black Veil Bribes"

Films: The Woman in Black (2012), The Woman in Black: Angel of Death (2015)

Alias: Jennet Humfrye

Type: Natural

Location: Haunted Home/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Spirits that target people are bad news, for sure. Spirits that target children almost exclusively on the other hand are some of the worst. And sometimes, they don't care HOW FAR they go. It's all in the name of vengeance.

History: Jennet Humfrye was declared unfit to care for her son due to being labeled as a lunatic. She didn't exactly help her case when said son ended up dying due to an accident and she responded by blaming her sister Alice and hanging herself at a nursery. Then it got worse. She came back as a vengeful spirit, and made it her mission to ruin all of her hometown in Crythin Gifford by possessing all the children into killing themselves. Anyone unfortunate enough to visit her residence will soon face her wrath.

Notable Kills: Makes three kids jump to their doom in the first few minutes, and later makes a girl light herself on fire.

Final Fate: Although reuniting her with the spirit of her son doesn't calm her down, it at least ensures that the protagonist gets to go to the afterlife instead of languishing in the mortal realm like all the rest of her victims. Jennet appeared again during the Blitz to menace some school kids. To this day, she continues to haunt the place.

Powers/Abilities: The Woman in Black is virtually indestructible, and can possess people.

Weakness: None.

Scariness Factor: 4-A maniacal lady in life and a sadistic ghost in death doesn't make for the best hostess of a haunted house. Worse, there’s no telling if any of those kids knew they were killing themselves against their own will. It's safe to say that Jennet has the killer widow look down to an art form.

Trivia: -This film is actually an adaptation of a novel of the same name written in 1983 by Susan Hill. It was earlier adapted into a British TV film in 1989.

-Jennet was played by Liz White, who is more partial to British dramas and TV shows throughout her career.
